Features

ReedSpot works like the timelines you already know, with one difference: every post on it is a real piece of writing, published on its writer’s own blog. Scroll it like a feed, read it like a magazine. Here is what is inside.

A timeline built from blogs

  • The home timeline

Every new post from every writer lands on the home page, newest first, twenty to a page. No ranking, no promoted posts, nothing quietly reordered.

  • A profile for every writer

Each writer gets a blog at /their-handle/ with a cover, a portrait, a short bio and an optional link to their own website. The profile is the blog.

  • A pinned introduction

Writers can pin a short welcome or a reading list to the top of their profile, so new readers know where to start.

  • Categories and topics

Writers file posts into categories of their own. Topics work across the whole site, so you can follow a subject from one writer to the next.

Posts that hold up

  • Room for long posts

Headings, lists, quotes, tables and images. Longer posts get a table of contents, so readers can jump to the part they came for.

  • Images hosted here

Pictures in posts are stored on the site itself and shown in fixed proportions, so the page does not jump while it loads.

  • Vietnamese, done right

Fonts with full Vietnamese support. Diacritics stay clean in titles, posts and replies, and every other accented language works too.

  • Ordinary links

Links in posts are plain links. Writers can point to their own websites and to the sources they used.

Following, without an account

  • Follow means RSS

The Follow button on a profile is an RSS feed: /handle/feed.xml for one writer, /feed.xml for everything. Any feed reader works.

  • Replies, reviewed

Anyone can reply with a name and a comment. Moderators read guest replies before they go up, so threads stay on topic.

  • Nothing watching you

Plain server-rendered HTML and CSS. No ads, no analytics, no tracking scripts and no cookies for readers.

  • Quick on a phone

Light pages that load fast on a mobile connection, with a layout that folds neatly into one column.

Why invitation only

Writer accounts are by invitation, and there is no public sign-up. Keeping the writer list deliberate means every profile on the timeline belongs to someone who was asked to be here, and moderators can actually read what gets published. Readers never need an account at all.
