Terms of use

Last updated:

These terms describe how ReedSpot works for readers, people who reply, and writers. By using the site you accept them. They are written to be read, so they are short.

The service

ReedSpot is a publishing platform. Writers publish posts on their own blogs here, the home timeline lists new posts from all writers, and anyone can read without an account. Writer accounts are by invitation only; there is no public sign-up.

Reading

Reading is free. You may share links to any page and quote reasonable excerpts with a link back to the original post. Posts belong to their writers, so ask the writer before republishing a post in full.

Replies

Anyone can reply to a post by giving a name and a comment. You are responsible for what you write in a reply. Guest replies are reviewed before they appear, and moderators may decline or remove any reply, especially one that breaks the guidelines. Replies that are not approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.

Writers and their content

Writers keep ownership of everything they publish on ReedSpot. By publishing, a writer gives ReedSpot permission to host, display and distribute that content, including through RSS feeds, for as long as it stays on the site.

Writers are responsible for their own posts, profiles and links, and confirm that they have the right to publish what they post, including images. Links in posts are ordinary links, and writers may link to their own websites and sources.

A writer can ask for individual posts or the whole blog to be removed at any time through the contact page.

Rules and removal

All content must follow the ReedSpot guidelines. We may remove content, hide profile details, or close a blog that breaks them, and we may do so without notice when the problem is serious.

If you believe something on ReedSpot infringes your copyright, use the contact page with the topic “Copyright”. Include links to the material and to your original work, and explain the problem. We review every notice and remove material where the complaint is valid.

The service is provided as is

ReedSpot is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the site will always be available, error-free or secure, or that any content on it is accurate. Posts express their writers’ views, not ours.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, ReedSpot and the people who run it are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site, from content published by writers or reply authors, or from websites that posts link to. Use your own judgement before acting on anything you read.

Changes

The service may change, gain or lose features, or be discontinued. We may update these terms; when we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
