Reading
Do I need an account to read?
No. Every profile, post, category and topic page is open to everyone. There is nothing to sign up for as a reader.
How is the home timeline ordered?
Newest first, across all writers, twenty posts to a page. Nothing is boosted or hidden. Use the links at the bottom of the timeline to go further back.
What is the difference between a category and a topic?
A category belongs to one writer and groups posts inside their blog. A topic (the # links) spans the whole site, so it collects posts on the same subject from different writers.
Can I read in another language?
The interface is in English. Most posts are written in Vietnamese, and the fonts support Vietnamese diacritics fully. Your browser’s translate feature works on every page.
Following
What does the Follow button do?
It opens the writer’s RSS feed at /handle/feed.xml. Paste that address into any feed reader and new posts from that writer will show up there.
Is there a feed for the whole site?
Yes: /feed.xml carries the latest posts from every writer.
Do you send newsletters or notifications?
No. ReedSpot has no mailing list and no push notifications. RSS is the way to follow.
Replies
How do I reply to a post?
Scroll to the replies under the post, enter a name and your comment, and press Reply. No account and no email address are needed.
Why doesn’t my reply show up?
Guest replies are held until a moderator approves them. Replies that are never approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Can I edit or delete a reply?
Not by yourself, since there are no reader accounts. Send a request through the contact page with a link to the post and the name you used.
Writers and requests
How do I get a writer account?
Accounts are by invitation and there is no public sign-up. Ask through the contact page with the topic “Writing here” and include a link to your writing.
I am a writer. Can I take a post or my whole blog down?
Yes. You keep ownership of what you publish. Ask through the contact page and we will remove the posts or the blog.
How do I report a post, a reply or a copyright problem?
Use the contact page, choose “Report a post or comment” or “Copyright”, and paste the link. Say briefly what is wrong.
